Component identity can materially change price, availability, engineering time, and software compatibility. Write down:
- Required brand and full model number
- Firmware or hardware revision when relevant
- Required accessories and communication modules
- Acceptable alternative brands or models
- Components for which substitution is not allowed
- Who must approve a proposed change
- Spare-parts requirements
